Generator Control

The Generator Control feature disconnects the normal source of supply when it fails and automatically starts a standby generator to supply a critical load. When the normal source of supply is restored, the generator is automatically shut down and the supply reconnected.

When a fault occurs and power is lost to a critical load, the recloser detects the loss of supply. After a preset delay (HV Dead Time), the controller trips the switchgear to isolate the normal source of supply and sends a command via an IOEX output to start the generator. This signal from the IOEX is used to keep the generator running until power is restored.

When the normal source of supply is restored for the duration of a preset time (HV live time), the controller will turn the generator off by removing the start request signal via the IOEX. When the Generator is OFF, the recloser is closed to reconnect the normal supply.

To avoid synchronisation issues, closing of the recloser is disabled while the generator is ON.
