Reclosers - Automated recloser technology

Reclosers are used throughout the power distribution network to isolate electrical faults. Nu-Lec Industries, based in Australia, is a leading manufacturer of intelligent reclosers. The extensive range of pole mounted reclosers includes the N Series, U Series and W Series reclosers. All Nu-Lec Industries reclosers are optimised for automation, remote control and monitoring.

Recloser performance and reliability is optimised using the latest technology in solid dielectrics, vacuum arc interruption and microelectronics. Voltage and current transducers are built into the recloser bushings.

A Pole Top Control and Communications cubicle is used with each unit and is mounted low on the recloser pole for ease of access. A cable connects the recloser and PTCC. The PTCC monitors recloser voltage, current, real and reactive power and allows flexible control over protection functions. The operator can control the recloser through the user interface in the PTCC and the recloser can be interfaced to SCADA systems.
